What you will do

Embark on London’s quintessential Christmas lights walking tour, a two-hour spectacle weaving through the capital’s glittering core. Begin at Trafalgar Square, where the colossal Norwegian spruce—gifted annually since 1947—radiates with 500 vertical strands of warm-white LEDs. Choir performances beneath Nelson’s Column add a soundtrack of carols.

Head to Covent Garden. The covered market transforms into a bauble-filled forest: 40 oversized red ornaments dangle above the cobblestones, while a 55-foot tree in the Piazza glows with 30,000 micro-lights. Sip mulled wine from the pop-up chalets; the scent of roasted chestnuts lingers.

Continue to Leicester Square. A mirrored archway of 100,000 LEDs frames the garden, with film-themed installations nodding to the square’s cinematic heritage. The Swiss glockenspiel chimes every half-hour.

Next, Piccadilly Circus. Eros’ statue is dwarfed by swirling constellations projected across the facades, while the famous billboards pulse in festive hues. Pause for photos beneath the 2025 “Angel Wings” canopy—new this year.

Ascend to Regent Street. Here, the “Spirits of Christmas” display unfurls: 300,000 LEDs cascade like liquid light along the street’s graceful curve, synchronized to a silent orchestral score. Luxury windows—Liberty’s Tudor facade included—compete with animated vignettes.

Finish on Oxford Street beneath over 750,000 bulbs to form a Christmas lights display that will inspire all visitors to get into the Christmas spirit.
